Godly Play

St John's is proud to offer Godly Play for our younger members during the 10:15 service every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month.
(The first Sunday of the month is a 9:15 Contemporary Service and children are encouraged to attend.)

The Godly Play program follows the school year and is offered from September through May.

What is Godly Play?

Godly Play is a discovery approach to learning.

The program was created by Jerome Berryman, an Episcopal priest and founder of the Center for the Theology of Childhood at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston, Texas.

Godly Play teaches the language of our faith through the ancient art of storytelling.
It teaches children that inside the mysteries of life we find God's hand.
Children learn the sacred stories of the Old Testament, the parables of Jesus, the Mystery of Christmas and Easter, liturgical actions found in community life of the church, and time for prayer.

An art response follows each lesson giving children the opportunity to process their experience in silence

with the art materials of their choice.
Godly Play creates a sacred space and time for children to experience the presence of God.

Come and experience Godly Play!
