May 11 TO MAY 18, 2008

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thanks to Roy and Sue Clark our COFFEE HOUR hosts today.   If others wish to participate in this ministry, please sign-up in the narthex.

THE READING OF ACTS 2 in many languages includes:  Czech—Barbara Jelen; Danish—Bodil Muller, The Rev. Jorn Muller; French— Patti Duthie, Valerie McIntyre, Fr. Jeff; German—Kathy Appleton; Polish—Maria Streinz; Spanish—Elsa Rink, Joan Waddingham; Swedish—Carol Lindstedt; Russian—Daryl Courtney.  We also welcome any OES international students who have joined in the reading this morning.

THE PENTECOST OFFERING is granted for brick and mortar community ministries, for new ministries, or for seed money to new initiatives. At its March meeting, the Diocesan Council approved forwarded the offering to the parish of St. Michael & All Angels in Portland to sustain and enhance Hispanic ministry there through the hiring of a half-time priest for a growing and thriving congregation.  St. Michael & All Angels has committed to funding half of the salary and benefits for a half-time bilingual, bicultural priest for liturgical functions, Christian formation, and pastoral care for this growing congregation currently numbering more than 80 souls.

MT. HOOD CLIMB SERVICE DAY this year will be Wednesday May 14th.  This is the day of service to show thanks for the caring response the Portland community gave to OES 21 years ago.  There will be a short prayer service at 7:30 a.m. and an all-school gathering at the Bell Tower at 8:30 a.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

THE ST. JOHN’S COMPANIONS GROUP will meet Tuesday, May 13 in the Ladehoff Room, beginning at 7 pm.  All are invited to this small group that meets to discuss and work on spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, journaling, outreach, etc.

PARKING IN THE CIRCLE around the Bell Tower is now expressly forbidden on weekdays without a yellow permit.  These permits are available in the parish office to anyone who requests one.
